Keith Lemon in Belfast!

Quiz show host turned actor Keith Lemon has been out and about in Belfast filming in his movie debut, Keith Lemon: The Film.

The eccentric playboy is taking in the city, which he describes as "windy, wet and cold" as he makes a record of his bid to become an international entrepreneur. "Like Richard Branson, like the pickle", he told UTV.

Keith took time out from his busy filming schedule to explain more about the movie, which he said he wants to be seen as "the stupidest film of the year".

"The film is a real rags to riches story and then I go back to rags because I realise life isn't about being rich and famous, it's about your friends and family and who you surround yourself with," he said. "It's quite moralistic."

The Celebrity Juice host has built up a fan base in the city and he said he is mostly enjoying meeting locals.

Belfast has some lovely buildings and some lovely people. There are also some people who want to tell you you're rubbish and then get their photograph taken with you.

"It's an endearing slagging off," he said.

Keith Lemon: The Film also stars Kelly Brook and Verne Troyer, who have been spotted hanging out in Belfast.

Former Page Three girl Kelly is often listed among the UK's most beautiful people, but Keith said he is not convinced by her.

"I'd almost go so far as to say Kelly is hideously deformed. Then the makeup lady puts her face on and she's Kelly Brook.

"Verne is like my little brother, who's 15 weeks old. He's a lovely fella, beautiful manners," he added.

While Keith claims "92% of the film is made up, the rest is based on true life experiences" but would not reveal which parts are representative of his real life, director Paul Angunawela said his star is a great actor.

"Keith does bring out the best in the actors. It's quite a big film, with a heart and people are here because they want to work with Keith."

Paul explained that the intimate setting was ideal for his movie.

"Everything is within walking distance, which is great and the people of Belfast is what we like, they're very enthusiastic."

Filming has already taken place at the Drawing Rooms, the Waterfront Hall and many streets across the city. Paul said there are many great locations throughout Belfast.

"People really want to help out and it's a very different atmosphere to London. We will have shot most of Belfast by the time the film is cut," he added.

Leigh Francis – practically bounded onto the stage when Dermot O’Leary announced that he, Holly Willougby and Fearne Cotton had triumphed over QI, Mock The Week, Have I Got News For You and he had some typically strange messages for the viewers when he made his speech.
Fearne knew what was coming and laughed:

Can we start by apologising for whatever is going to happen from this point on.
Lemon retaliated: Shut up you! Just be happy, you’re always miserable.
Keith then continued to thank his ‘real dad’ Billy Ocean and joked:
I’ll take over now and say thanks to a couple of people. Thanks to me dad, Billy Ocean. I’d like to say thanks to all the people on Twitter that I’ve been pestering all week.
Thanks to all the ladies in my life, you know who you are.
At that point Holly and Fearne stepped in to make the more sensible comments and thank yous, before Dermot returned and chuckled:“Well, that was brief!”

MR LEMON -  Entertainment Presenter

KEITH LEMON THE FILM

Comedian Leigh Francis is to bring his alter-ego, Celebrity Juice presenter Keith Lemon, to the big screen.

The story will show Lemon moving from Leeds to London in an attempt to make his fortune and be like his hero, Richard Branson.

Lionsgate Films UK is behind the movie, which starts shooting in Belfast next week, and it will also feature Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer.

Francis is also known for appearing in the Channel 4 series Bo Selecta!

The movie will be the character's first big screen adventure and the first time Lionsgate UK have made a comedy.

In a BBC interview, the comedian explained: "He gets carried away and loses everything, then realises that he was happier when he was not famous and goes back to Leeds."

Keith Lemon: The Film will also star Verne Troyer, who played Mini Me in the Austin Powers films.

"It's based on true life events that have happened in my true life," said Lemon in a statement.

"Apart from of course 98.2% of it which has been made up simply for entertainment purposes."

Francis has co-written the script alongside the film's director, Paul Angunawela.

However, the movie is not the first time Francis's character has worked with Lionsgate films.

Keith Lemon's Fit, a parody of exercise DVDs released last year, has sold more than 100,000 copies in the UK.

Leigh Francis first became popular in the series Bo Selecta! playing celebrity stalker Avid Merrion and doing bizarre impersonations of celebrities like Michael Jackson

Keith Lemon to host Jim'll Fix It-style show for ITV1

ITV1 is making its own modern version of Jim’ll Fix It – with comic Keith Lemon making dreams come true.
The Celebrity Juice star will host Lemonaid on Saturday nights and producers hope to emulate the late Sir Jimmy Savile’s BBC1 success.
The new primetime show will run for six episodes from the spring. And bosses hope it could become a regular fixture in the schedules.

Dan Baldwin, head of makers Talkback comedy, said today: “We want to reflect the great ‘wish fulfilment’ shows from yesteryear but add a
very special twist of Lemon.
"Keith Lemon is about to demolish people's problems and make their dreams come true - and we should all be immensely happy about this."

Zany Yorkshireman Lemon, 38, aka Leigh Francis, shot to fame with catchphrases such as “Bang Tidy” on Channel 4’s Bo’ Selecta! before hosting ITV2’s comedy panel show Celebrity Juice. On Lemonaid he will be helped each week by a different celebrity.
He said: “I’m very excited to be in t’living rooms of the lovely ITV1 viewers with me new telly show. Solving people’s problems and making dreams come true, making me look nice like Cheryl Cole, like when she went out to t’troops.
"She’s lovely in’t she? Not as fit as Kelly Brook though! If anyone has ever dreamed of meeting her, let me know – I can hook you up, I know her in real life.”
ITV entertainment commissioner Claire Zolkwer added: “We’re absolutely thrilled. He’s been entertaining the ITV2 audience on Celebrity Juice for six series and his unique brand of naughty but nice is going to bring some colour and fun to family Saturday evenings on ITV1.”
Jim’ll Fix It ran from 1975 to 1994 and BBC bosses, who brought it back for a Boxing Day special with Shane Richie, are considering commissioning a new series.
